"Despite the fact that the Western countries realize Syria's important role in the region and the Islamic world, they have tried to undermine this role and they exerted political, economic, cultural and military pressures on Syria to punish it for its rejection of complying with the dictations of colonial countries, Ambassador Sajjadi said in a statement to SANA correspondent.

BEIRUT, (SANA) – Informed sources told al-Nour radio channel that a member of the Future bloc in Akkar helped French and British intelligence officers through taking them to sites that overview Syrian military locations along the northern Lebanese borders.
Sources said that two cars, belonging to the Future Bloc MPs with 4 passengers claiming that they were journalists, came to Wadi Khaled district. The passengers took photos of the military sites near the borders with Syria.
They added that the cars toured many places along the borders, pointing out that they were French and British intelligence officers whose mission was to get information about the Syrian-Lebanese borders.

PARIS, (SANA)- French journalist Jacques Borde criticized his country's foreign policy, blaming it for the deterioration in the relations between Syria and France.
In an interview with GeoStrategy website, Borde said the logistic support offered by Paris to the gunmen in Syria by means of secret supply of military equipment constitutes an aggression on a state that is a member of the United Nation.
He added that based on the strict French legislations regarding export of military equipment, the officials and parties sponsoring these acts will be pursued if a new political majority would come to power after the French presidential elections of 2012.

OTTAWA, (SANA) - The U.S. journalist Tony Cartalucci criticized the American ABC News' attempt to distort President Bashar al-Assad's interview with Barbara Walters through deliberate omission in sensitive parts to give a completely different impression than what President al-Assad intended to give out.
In an article published by the global research website Cartalucci said "Events taking place in Syria exposed the duplicity, discourtesy, and intellectual depravity displayed by Barbra Walters who "saw pictures," read a fraudulent UN report written by authors with ties to US corporate-financier interests, and listened to an Obama speech and therefore is an expert on the premeditated, US-facilitated chaos sweeping across parts of Syria."
He added that "And even as she sits in Syria's calm capital of Damascus, invited in by al-Assad who has been accused of barring foreign reporters, she still insists that Syria is in utter chaos, irrationally closing itself off from the world, and with a population completely turned against the Syrian government."
Cartalucci said that broadcasting the full interview later on helped correcting the distortion, describing Walters' behavior as "disgraceful".
He pointed out to a number of facts to dispel the false premises that Walters started from in its job, particularly the UN human rights report on Syria which consisted of no evidence and was mainly based on interviews of alleged witnesses produced by Syria's opposition in Geneva.
Cartalucci added "The report itself was compiled in part by Karen AbuZayd, a Director of the US Washington-based corporate think-tank, Middle East Policy Council, that includes Exxon men, CIA agents, US military and government representatives, and even the president of the US-Qatar Business Council, which includes amongst its membership, al-Jazeera, Chevron, Exxon, munitions manufacturer Raytheon (who supplied the opening salvos during NATO's operations against Libya).
"Violence amongst protests was confirmed and documented by even the mainstream press as early as April 2011, where protesters committed arson on public buildings including administrative centers and police stations. Reports of snipers attacking protesters and troops simultaneously were also reported. As early as June, hundreds of Syrian troops had already been reported dead," said Cartalucci.
He stressed that what is taking place in Syria is funded by the NATO Alliance which consists of "a very real terrorist threat".
Cartalucci referred to what has been reported by international media confirming the presence of a Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (listed by the US State Department as a terrorist organization) on the Turkey-Syrian border preparing militants to fight the Syrian government with the assistance of Turkey's government.

A former official from within the ranks of the Federal Bureau of Investigation is reporting that US and NATO forces have landed outside of Syria and are training militants to overthrow the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.
Whistleblower Sibel Edmonds, formerly a translator with the FBI, wrote over the weekend that American soldiers are among the NATO troops that have mysteriously and suddenly landed on the Jordanian and Syrian border. According to her, several sources internationally have confirmed the news, although the US media has been instructed to temporarily censor itself from reporting the news.
Additionally, Edmonds says that American and NATO forces are training Turkish troops as well, to possibly launch a strike from the north of Syria.
Edmonds writes that an Iraqi journalist based out of London has confirmed that US forces that vacated the Ain al-Assad Air Base in Iraq last week did in fact leave the country as part of President Obama's drawdown of troops, but rather than return home, the soldiers were transferred into Jordan during the late hours of Thursday evening. Another source, writes Edmonds, informs her that "soldiers who speak languages other than Arabic" have been moving through Jordan mere miles from the country's border with Syria. Troops believed to be NATO/American-affiliated have been spotted between the King Hussein Air Base in al-Mafraq and the Jordanian village of Albaej and its vicinity.
Nizar Nayouf, a correspondent for Edmond's Boiling Frog Post whistleblower site, says an employee of the London-based offices of Royal Jordanian Airlines has further confirmed that at least one US aircraft transporting military personnel has brought American troops into Jordan in recent days. Nayouf, the former editor-in-chief of Sawt al-Democratiyya (Democracy's Vote), had previously been sentenced to a decade behind bars for critiquing the Syrian government. He later won several human rights awards and the 2000 UNISCO prize for press freedom.
Since the uprising of rebel forces opposing al-Assad's regime over Syria nearly a year ago, American officials have been critical of the country's government but insist that they have otherwise distanced themselves from becoming involved in the protests. Following the deaths of dozens of protesters in the spring of 2011, the United States imposed strict sanctions against the official government of Syria.
Navi Pillay, the United Nations' high commissioner for human rights, revealed this week that the uprising in Syria has caused over 5,000 deaths since it began in early 2011. In the case of the crackdown against former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's regime, NATO involvement began only one month into the uprising. Nine months later, the total death toll of the Libyan Civil War is estimated to be close to 30,000.
In her report, Edmonds says that NATO troops have been training soldiers just outside of Syria since as early as May, and that US media is prohibited from reporting on it until today. The Turkish paper Milliyet also reports that defected Syrian colonel Riyad al-Asaad is preparing troops to take over the Syrian government as well.

MOSCOW, (SANA) – Iran's Ambassador to Moscow Muhammad Reza Sajjadi stressed that the Western countries and Israel reject the return of stability and prosperity to Syria and to the Arab countries.
"Despite the fact that the Western countries realize Syria's important role in the region and the Islamic world, they have tried to undermine this role and they exerted political, economic, cultural and military pressures on Syria to punish it for its rejection of complying with the dictations of colonial countries, Ambassador Sajjadi said in a statement to SANA correspondent.
He added that Syria's people and leadership stance against the schemes of the US, Israel and the NATO countries in the region, made the Western countries work hard to create problems in Syria, and to exaggerate what is taking place on ground at a time when these countries ignore the protests and problems in other countries whose governments are subjected to the US and Western powers.
Sajjadi reiterated Iran's support to Syria in its rejection of the pressures exerted by Western and other countries.
He described Russia's policy in the region as "correct and deep" as it is based on deep analysis of the situation in Syria while the US and some Western countries impose their viewpoints and interests without paying any attention to the life of other people as it has been proven in Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine over sixty years.

BEIRUT, (SANA) – Informed sources told al-Nour radio channel that a member of the Future bloc in Akkar helped French and British intelligence officers through taking them to sites that overview Syrian military locations along the northern Lebanese borders.
Sources said that two cars, belonging to the Future Bloc MPs with 4 passengers claiming that they were journalists, came to Wadi Khaled district. The passengers took photos of the military sites near the borders with Syria.
They added that the cars toured many places along the borders, pointing out that they were French and British intelligence officers whose mission was to get information about the Syrian-Lebanese borders.

PARIS, (SANA)- French journalist Jacques Borde criticized his country's foreign policy, blaming it for the deterioration in the relations between Syria and France.
In an interview with GeoStrategy website, Borde said the logistic support offered by Paris to the gunmen in Syria by means of secret supply of military equipment constitutes an aggression on a state that is a member of the United Nation.
He added that based on the strict French legislations regarding export of military equipment, the officials and parties sponsoring these acts will be pursued if a new political majority would come to power after the French presidential elections of 2012.
The French historian denounced the demeanor of his country which did not only provide military equipment to the gunmen, but also monitored the Syrian Army's sites via satellite and transferred the information to the gunmen.
Borde said the problem is that the French President Nicolas Sarkozy is putting the cart before the horse, indicating to a "strange contradiction" in the French attitude.
He said that France is standing alone on the front line, asking sarcastically "Why do the Americans have to dirty their hands when a fool is there to do the dirty acts on their behalf."

OTTAWA, (SANA) - The U.S. journalist Tony Cartalucci criticized the American ABC News' attempt to distort President Bashar al-Assad's interview with Barbara Walters through deliberate omission in sensitive parts to give a completely different impression than what President al-Assad intended to give out.
In an article published by the global research website Cartalucci said "Events taking place in Syria exposed the duplicity, discourtesy, and intellectual depravity displayed by Barbra Walters who "saw pictures," read a fraudulent UN report written by authors with ties to US corporate-financier interests, and listened to an Obama speech and therefore is an expert on the premeditated, US-facilitated chaos sweeping across parts of Syria."
He added that "And even as she sits in Syria's calm capital of Damascus, invited in by al-Assad who has been accused of barring foreign reporters, she still insists that Syria is in utter chaos, irrationally closing itself off from the world, and with a population completely turned against the Syrian government."
Cartalucci said that broadcasting the full interview later on helped correcting the distortion, describing Walters' behavior as "disgraceful".
He pointed out to a number of facts to dispel the false premises that Walters started from in its job, particularly the UN human rights report on Syria which consisted of no evidence and was mainly based on interviews of alleged witnesses produced by Syria's opposition in Geneva.
Cartalucci added "The report itself was compiled in part by Karen AbuZayd, a Director of the US Washington-based corporate think-tank, Middle East Policy Council, that includes Exxon men, CIA agents, US military and government representatives, and even the president of the US-Qatar Business Council, which includes amongst its membership, al-Jazeera, Chevron, Exxon, munitions manufacturer Raytheon (who supplied the opening salvos during NATO's operations against Libya).
"Violence amongst protests was confirmed and documented by even the mainstream press as early as April 2011, where protesters committed arson on public buildings including administrative centers and police stations. Reports of snipers attacking protesters and troops simultaneously were also reported. As early as June, hundreds of Syrian troops had already been reported dead," said Cartalucci.
He stressed that what is taking place in Syria is funded by the NATO Alliance which consists of "a very real terrorist threat".
Cartalucci referred to what has been reported by international media confirming the presence of a Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (listed by the US State Department as a terrorist organization) on the Turkey-Syrian border preparing militants to fight the Syrian government with the assistance of Turkey's government.
He said that the statements made by a number of the U.S. officials stress that what is happening in Syria came in line with a decision taken by the US since 1991 which aimed at cleaning up governments in the Middle East that support Russia, namely Syria, Iran and Iraq before the rising of another super power to challenge the Western domination.
"The unrest in Syria from the beginning was entirely backed by Western corporate-financier interests and part of a long-planned agenda for region-wide regime change, said Cartalucci, indicating to the covert funding and support for opposition groups since Bush administration.
Cartalucci indicated to the cables released by the Washington Post which revealed that the US has been funding Syrian opposition groups since at least 2005 and continued until today.
He also underscored statements of Michael Posner, the assistant US Secretary of State for Human Rights and Labor, on Washington organizing training sessions for 5,000 activists including activists from Tunisia, Egypt, Syria and from Lebanon.

A former official from within the ranks of the Federal Bureau of Investigation is reporting that US and NATO forces have landed outside of Syria and are training militants to overthrow the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.
Whistleblower Sibel Edmonds, formerly a translator with the FBI, wrote over the weekend that American soldiers are among the NATO troops that have mysteriously and suddenly landed on the Jordanian and Syrian border. According to her, several sources internationally have confirmed the news, although the US media has been instructed to temporarily censor itself from reporting the news.
Additionally, Edmonds says that American and NATO forces are training Turkish troops as well, to possibly launch a strike from the north of Syria.
Edmonds writes that an Iraqi journalist based out of London has confirmed that US forces that vacated the Ain al-Assad Air Base in Iraq last week did in fact leave the country as part of President Obama's drawdown of troops, but rather than return home, the soldiers were transferred into Jordan during the late hours of Thursday evening. Another source, writes Edmonds, informs her that "soldiers who speak languages other than Arabic" have been moving through Jordan mere miles from the country's border with Syria. Troops believed to be NATO/American-affiliated have been spotted between the King Hussein Air Base in al-Mafraq and the Jordanian village of Albaej and its vicinity.
Nizar Nayouf, a correspondent for Edmond's Boiling Frog Post whistleblower site, says an employee of the London-based offices of Royal Jordanian Airlines has further confirmed that at least one US aircraft transporting military personnel has brought American troops into Jordan in recent days. Nayouf, the former editor-in-chief of Sawt al-Democratiyya (Democracy's Vote), had previously been sentenced to a decade behind bars for critiquing the Syrian government. He later won several human rights awards and the 2000 UNISCO prize for press freedom.
Since the uprising of rebel forces opposing al-Assad's regime over Syria nearly a year ago, American officials have been critical of the country's government but insist that they have otherwise distanced themselves from becoming involved in the protests. Following the deaths of dozens of protesters in the spring of 2011, the United States imposed strict sanctions against the official government of Syria.
Navi Pillay, the United Nations' high commissioner for human rights, revealed this week that the uprising in Syria has caused over 5,000 deaths since it began in early 2011. In the case of the crackdown against former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's regime, NATO involvement began only one month into the uprising. Nine months later, the total death toll of the Libyan Civil War is estimated to be close to 30,000.
In her report, Edmonds says that NATO troops have been training soldiers just outside of Syria since as early as May, and that US media is prohibited from reporting on it until today. The Turkish paper Milliyet also reports that defected Syrian colonel Riyad al-Asaad is preparing troops to take over the Syrian government as well.

反体制派への弾圧が続くシリアでは、国際社会による経済制裁が続いている。
15日、ダマスカス市内のプロパンガス店では、入荷が滞っているガスを手に入れようと、市民が殺到した。
また、スーパーマーケットなどでは、肉や野菜といった食料品の価格が経済制裁前と比べて3割近く上昇していて、制裁の影響が市民生活を直撃している。
市民は「服の値段は変わらないが、食べ物は高い」、「外国から輸入するものは、すごく高くなっている」などと話した。
こうした中、シリア外務省のマクディシ報道官がFNNのインタビューに対し、経済制裁を強く批判した。
マクディシ報道官は「制裁はよくない。シリア経済に影響を与えている。これは不当な制裁だ」と述べた。
一方で、地方都市の状況はさらに悪いともいわれているが、シリア情勢をめぐる事態打開のめどは立っていない。

People's Assembly approved in its meeting held today, chaired by Dr. Mahmoud al-Abrash President of the Council a draft law on the state budget for the year 2012.

DAMASCUS, (SANA)- A delegation representing the Syrian and Iraqi clans and tribes on Wednesday visited the Iraqi Embassy in Damascus to express support to Syria in the face of the economic sanctions imposed by Arabs and West.
During the visit, elders and clansmen of the Iraqi and Syrian clans and tribes reiterated their support for the Syrian people in facing the conspiracies hatched against their homeland.
Chairman of the National Association of the Displaced Iraqis, Shaikh al-Murtaja al-Kaabi, said that the Iraqi clans delegation came from all Iraqi cities and governorates to voice solidarity with the Syrian people, stressing Iraq's rejection of any foreign interference or aggression against Syria.

DAMASCUS, (SANA)- A delegation representing the Syrian and Iraqi clans and tribes on Wednesday visited the Iraqi Embassy in Damascus to express support to Syria in the face of the economic sanctions imposed by Arabs and West.
During the visit, elders and clansmen of the Iraqi and Syrian clans and tribes reiterated their support for the Syrian people in facing the conspiracies hatched against their homeland.
Chairman of the National Association of the Displaced Iraqis, Shaikh al-Murtaja al-Kaabi, said that the Iraqi clans delegation came from all Iraqi cities and governorates to voice solidarity with the Syrian people, stressing Iraq's rejection of any foreign interference or aggression against Syria.
For his part, Shaikh of al-Na'im Tribe, Muhammad Kheir Bin Jassem al-Nader ,said "Syria and Iraq are one country .. Iraq's stances regarding what is taking place in Syria is honorable," stressing that Iraq will support Syria in the face of all conspiracies.
A delegation of the Syrian citizens included clansmen, clergymen and youths visited the Headquarters of the Iraqi Embassy in Damascus to thank Iraq for its supportive stances towards Syria.

Chairman of the Committee, Abdull-Rida al-Hamid, said that as the Committee represents the faction of the national action in Iraq which resists the US occupation of it, so it natural to oppose any US project in the region, in addition to that Iraq is part of the Syrian case as it is part of any cases in the Arab Homeland.
For his part, member of the Committee, Hussein al-Rabiae, said that after the unfair decision of the Arab League (AL) against Syria, we mobilized the Iraqi people to defend Syria with all available means.

Damascus, (SANA) – Patriarch Ignatius IV Hazim of Antioch and All the East for the Greek Orthodox, Patriarch Mar Ignatius Zakka I Iwas of Antioch an All the East for the Syriac Orthodox, and Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for Roman Catholics, Gregory III Laham, stressed on Thursday their rejection of all forms of foreign interference and violence, calling for lifting the sanctions imposed on Syria.
Addressing their sons and citizens in Syria during their meeting at Mar Ephram the Syriac Monastery in SidNaya, the patriarchs called for favoring the national interest over any other interests, adding that all sides should reconcile in the name of God and the homeland.
They expressed their support to reform and positive steps of the government, calling for respecting the principles of justice, freedom and dignity.

ISTANBUL: A group claiming to represent the majority of the opposition movements inside Syria declared Thursday the foundation of a "National Alliance" of revolutionary forces aiming to topple the regime.
"The regime has killed, maimed, arrested, tortured and displaced tens of thousands of people," Muhammad Bessam Imadi, a former Syrian ambassador to Sweden, told a press conference in Istanbul.
"Therefore different revolutionary groups sought to unify their operational and political leadership to join forces and overthrow the regime," added Imadi, who described himself as head of the alliance.
"Now that the time is ripe, it has become necessary to declare our existence publicly. Therefore, we announce the National Alliance of Forces, Coordinators and Councils of the Syrian Revolution; Al-Leeqa," he said, reading a statement.
The former diplomat said Al-Leeqa includes "the majority of revolutionary groups conducting the revolution in Syria."
"We have managed to gather all these groups under the same umbrella," he said.
The Syrian National Council (SNC), which has brought together dissidents from inside and outside Syria, has recognised Al-Leeqa as one of its components.
Imadi told reporters that Al-Leeqa supported the Free Syrian Army, a grouping of army deserters that has taken up arms against the forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad, "as long as it protects civilians and the peaceful revolution in Syria."
Questioned by AFP, Imadi said Al-Leeqa was a stucture uniting most of the local coordination committees in Syria, which were organizing protest movements in districts and cities.
"Only a small number of local coordination committees were represented" in the SNC, Imadi said, adding that the SNC then "lost contact with local revolutionary movements in Syria," implying that they would re-establish that tie.

DAMASCUS, SANA_ Foreign and Expatriates Ministry said Thursday it is not usual for the Ministry to comment on an issue related to a former employee, but in light of the interview conducted by the "Times" newspaper with Muhammad Bassam Imadi, Syria's former Ambassador to Sweden, the Ministry made it clear that the former employee al-Imadi committed violations and crimes resulted in his dismissal from his post for acts of deceit, fraud, trickery and exploiting his position for getting financial gains from the public money through his work as an ambassador for his country in Sweden.
The Ministry noted that it had started the investigation with al-Imadi since 2008 and was transferred to Damascus in the ninth month of the same year for continuing the investigation in his crimes and prosecuting him.
The Ministry made it clear that it proposed dismissing him and seizing his properties and that was done by the Prime Ministers' decision on March3, 2010.
"Joining of a person enjoying such moral values like al-Imadi to the Syrian opposition clarifies to the public opinion the fact that those who call themselves the opposition abroad." The Ministry said.

GUVECCI, Turkey: From the roof of his cousin's house across the border, Syrian villager Ahmad Sadeq can see two Syrian soldiers strolling around the farm he abandoned four months ago to seek safety with Turkish relatives.
Sadeq laments how nine months of unrest in Syria have shattered his once tranquil existence as the owner of more than 50 acres of orchards producing bountiful crops of apples, apricots and olives in Khirbet al-Jouz.
The Sadeqs were among thousands of terrified villagers who streamed into Turkey from northwest Syria since June, when President Bashar Assad launched an offensive to quell anti-government protests in his town.
"The army is in my house because I am wanted for a lot of things. We are closest to Turkey. We lived on the apple harvest and sent it to Al-Hall market in Aleppo," said Sadeq, 48, referring to Syria's second city, further from the border.
"We were living a life that made us not in need of anyone," said Sadeq, whose family of 11 is now crammed into a room next to his cousin's home in the sleepy border village.
The area, which became part of the French mandate of Syria after the 1923 collapse of the Ottoman Empire and was then given to Turkey in 1939, now shelters around 8,000 Syrian refugees, mostly living in five camps set up by the Turkish government.
The villagers, from Syria's majority Sunni community, say they face certain danger if they go back to the homes they fled when militiamen known as shabbiha from the minority Alawite sect raided their villages and towns.
"There is no security and no choice or way out except to stay here, because if one leaves, one gets killed," said Atef Kareem, 32, a plumber from the nearby town of Ain al-Baida. "Any security agent can do whatever he wants and kill you or cut you in pieces and no one will hold him accountable."
Many took the same path across the border that thousands of survivors of the massacre of the city Hama in 1982 took when they fled Syria. Assad's father, President Hafez Assad, then sent troops to crush an Islamist uprising in the city Hama.
The old and young refugees pass their long days trading news and watching Syrian troops and snipers perched in hillside watchtowers overlooking the valley, ready to do whatever it takes to prevent more Syrians from fleeing.
"Look at the snipers on hills and mountain tops," said Musa Alawi, pointing to a tall building above the thin asphalt road marking what was once a lightly patrolled border.
Villagers recount how a mother was killed and her husband and two children were wounded when they tried, and failed, to join relatives in Turkey last month.
The serenity of the countryside belies the tensions building up around the Turkish village of Guvecci, where word of mouth spreads talk of more troops and tanks deployed and trenches dug in forests and valleys.
"The Syrians are more afraid of us than those inside because the people can hit and run back and even smuggle weapons. They have dug trenches in the mountains behind the border and concealed more tanks," said Ibrahim Said, 21, a teacher from Jabal al-Zaywa.
Glued to the television, Ahmad Soufan, 42, a farmer from Janoudieh several kilometers away, fumes at what he sees as foot-dragging by Turkey in setting up a safe zone inside Syria.
Turkey has been one of the most vocal critics of Assad's crackdown and has made clear that if the situation gets worse it will push for international backing to set up a protected buffer zone for Syrians fleeing a humanitarian crisis.
Like many other refugees, Soufan believes only such a zone will protect thousands of Syrians in danger.
"Assad is killing 20 or 30 people every day. Every day action is delayed, more innocent lives are lost," he said.
Braving intermittent gunfire by soldiers shooting at night, some local villagers and army defectors do venture across the border under cover of darkness, taking well-trodden foot paths to check on their property and plantations.
Defectors also go on reconnaissance missions for the Free Syrian Army, a loose collection of army deserters believed to be operating a command post and headquarters in a heavily protected facility not far away.
Refugees worry that informers hang around trying to find out where the activists are, a constant reminder that they are still not completely safe.
"Here I don't think they can do anything, but they send them to know what's happening and ask about us," said Abu Fahed, who fled his village of Al-Kastan after his brother's body was dumped near his home five days following his detention by Syrian security forces.
The relationships between the communities on the two sides of the border are strong, linked by history, family and tradition.
"We are brothers. It's the borders that divided us, we never moved or came from anywhere. When they drew the borders this area became Turkey," said Arfan Subhi, 58, a dairy cattle farmer who sheltered his daughter, son-in-law and their family from Khirbet al-Jouz.
Subhi recollected his daughter Nasseema's marriage to her Syrian cousin in better days when they crossed the border on foot. Many on the Turkish side have offered extra rooms or employed their relatives as farm laborers to help them manage.
"What is happening pains us deeply. I don't want our Syrian brothers' dignity violated and with everything I own I will welcome him and help him because he is my brother in religion," said Fadel Fizo, whose relatives live in Damascus and Aleppo.
Still, the people from both sides who have been caught up in the crisis are showing the strain.
A thriving black market smuggling everything from cigarettes to cheap fuel and even cows from Syria has now come to a halt.
"We are all eating from our savings," said Ammar Abdullah, a civil servant in the town of Jabal al-Zawya, who moved in with his Turkish uncle and complains how expensive Turkey is.
Nabil Zaid, from the border village of Al-Shughr, said: "We have moved from a life that was difficult to a more difficult one here."

GUVECCI, Turkey: From the roof of his cousin's house across the border, Syrian villager Ahmad Sadeq can see two Syrian soldiers strolling around the farm he abandoned four months ago to seek safety with Turkish relatives.
Sadeq laments how nine months of unrest in Syria have shattered his once tranquil existence as the owner of more than 50 acres of orchards producing bountiful crops of apples, apricots and olives in Khirbet al-Jouz.
The Sadeqs were among thousands of terrified villagers who streamed into Turkey from northwest Syria since June, when President Bashar Assad launched an offensive to quell anti-government protests in his town.
"The army is in my house because I am wanted for a lot of things. We are closest to Turkey. We lived on the apple harvest and sent it to Al-Hall market in Aleppo," said Sadeq, 48, referring to Syria's second city, further from the border.
"We were living a life that made us not in need of anyone," said Sadeq, whose family of 11 is now crammed into a room next to his cousin's home in the sleepy border village.
The area, which became part of the French mandate of Syria after the 1923 collapse of the Ottoman Empire and was then given to Turkey in 1939, now shelters around 8,000 Syrian refugees, mostly living in five camps set up by the Turkish government.
The villagers, from Syria's majority Sunni community, say they face certain danger if they go back to the homes they fled when militiamen known as shabbiha from the minority Alawite sect raided their villages and towns.
"There is no security and no choice or way out except to stay here, because if one leaves, one gets killed," said Atef Kareem, 32, a plumber from the nearby town of Ain al-Baida. "Any security agent can do whatever he wants and kill you or cut you in pieces and no one will hold him accountable."
Many took the same path across the border that thousands of survivors of the massacre of the city Hama in 1982 took when they fled Syria. Assad's father, President Hafez Assad, then sent troops to crush an Islamist uprising in the city Hama.
The old and young refugees pass their long days trading news and watching Syrian troops and snipers perched in hillside watchtowers overlooking the valley, ready to do whatever it takes to prevent more Syrians from fleeing.
"Look at the snipers on hills and mountain tops," said Musa Alawi, pointing to a tall building above the thin asphalt road marking what was once a lightly patrolled border.
Villagers recount how a mother was killed and her husband and two children were wounded when they tried, and failed, to join relatives in Turkey last month.
The serenity of the countryside belies the tensions building up around the Turkish village of Guvecci, where word of mouth spreads talk of more troops and tanks deployed and trenches dug in forests and valleys.
"The Syrians are more afraid of us than those inside because the people can hit and run back and even smuggle weapons. They have dug trenches in the mountains behind the border and concealed more tanks," said Ibrahim Said, 21, a teacher from Jabal al-Zaywa.
Glued to the television, Ahmad Soufan, 42, a farmer from Janoudieh several kilometers away, fumes at what he sees as foot-dragging by Turkey in setting up a safe zone inside Syria.
Turkey has been one of the most vocal critics of Assad's crackdown and has made clear that if the situation gets worse it will push for international backing to set up a protected buffer zone for Syrians fleeing a humanitarian crisis.
Like many other refugees, Soufan believes only such a zone will protect thousands of Syrians in danger.
"Assad is killing 20 or 30 people every day. Every day action is delayed, more innocent lives are lost," he said.
Braving intermittent gunfire by soldiers shooting at night, some local villagers and army defectors do venture across the border under cover of darkness, taking well-trodden foot paths to check on their property and plantations.
Defectors also go on reconnaissance missions for the Free Syrian Army, a loose collection of army deserters believed to be operating a command post and headquarters in a heavily protected facility not far away.
Refugees worry that informers hang around trying to find out where the activists are, a constant reminder that they are still not completely safe.
"Here I don't think they can do anything, but they send them to know what's happening and ask about us," said Abu Fahed, who fled his village of Al-Kastan after his brother's body was dumped near his home five days following his detention by Syrian security forces.
The relationships between the communities on the two sides of the border are strong, linked by history, family and tradition.
"We are brothers. It's the borders that divided us, we never moved or came from anywhere. When they drew the borders this area became Turkey," said Arfan Subhi, 58, a dairy cattle farmer who sheltered his daughter, son-in-law and their family from Khirbet al-Jouz.
Subhi recollected his daughter Nasseema's marriage to her Syrian cousin in better days when they crossed the border on foot. Many on the Turkish side have offered extra rooms or employed their relatives as farm laborers to help them manage.
"What is happening pains us deeply. I don't want our Syrian brothers' dignity violated and with everything I own I will welcome him and help him because he is my brother in religion," said Fadel Fizo, whose relatives live in Damascus and Aleppo.
Still, the people from both sides who have been caught up in the crisis are showing the strain.
A thriving black market smuggling everything from cigarettes to cheap fuel and even cows from Syria has now come to a halt.
"We are all eating from our savings," said Ammar Abdullah, a civil servant in the town of Jabal al-Zawya, who moved in with his Turkish uncle and complains how expensive Turkey is.
Nabil Zaid, from the border village of Al-Shughr, said: "We have moved from a life that was difficult to a more difficult one here."

DAMSCUS, (SANA) – Criminal Security Branch in Damascus Countryside on Wednesday arrested a group of criminals charged with stealing cars by force impersonating security officers, in addition to other charges of committing different crimes.
In his confessions broadcast by the Syrian TV, the 30-year old armed man, Samer al-Bakri, confessed to stealing cars impersonating a security officer with three other people.
Al-Bakri added that they bought military uniforms, a gun and a pistol to use them in their operations and spent the stolen money on nightlife and other pleasures.
He said that he participated with Hussein al-Shahoud, Hussein al-Ali and Ahmad al-Homam in seven operations and stole taxis, Mercedes cargo van, a car loaded with flour and another one loaded with meat on Homs-Damascus highway, in addition to taking taxis till they reach Maaloula Bridge, threatening the drivers and stealing their cars, mobiles and money.
Al-Bakri confessed to selling the stolen cars and mobiles in Hama governorate via a man called Abu Fawaz.
For his part, Hussein al-Ali, a farmer, said that he participated in three operations on Damascus – Homs highway.
He added that they blocked the way of a Kia Rio car and a green van loaded with spare parts impersonating as a security patrol where they stole the cars and the money found with their drivers.
"We stopped a car loaded with meat and stole the money from its driver," said al-Ali, adding that we also stole a Verna Taxi on Homs road.
In turn, Ahmad al-Homam, 32 years old from Kafr Roma in Idlib, confessed that he and Hussein al-Alli stole a taxi near Maaloula and sold it in Idlib.

Idlib, (SANA)-Muhammad Deib Jamal Shaaban narrated stories about acts of killing and kidnapping perpetrated by armed terrorist groups in Idlib, including the crime of assassinating son of Syria's Grand Mufti, the Martyr Sarya Hassoun.
Shaaban told the Syrian TV in an interview broadcast Thursday that he was working in the company of Syria Mega Azoz, then he joined a terrorist group in his village that comprised a number of his cousins and friends to perpetrate acts of looting, killing and kidnapping.
"I took part along with the group in killing a person from al-Shalkhi family and another person from Mutlak family. At 12.30 p.m. I was in al-Mashrou region while the group members were sitting near a roadblock that we set up in the area.. leader of the group Basem Shaaban asked him to remain at the roadblock and they went by car…," Shaaban said.
He added "after an hour and a half, the group which included Ahmad Shaaban, Hussein Shaaban, Adham Iz, Abdallah al-Khateeb, yousef al-Akhim and Muhammad Khaled al-Akhim, returned with an injured person called Yossef." Shaaban said that members of the group met once again and went to abduct Mr. Rafik al-Mudalal with his son.
They took him to a farm, tortured and killed him. "Several days later, I found Hussein and Muhammad Muaed al-Tahan and his brother Yassar, and Hassan al-Tahan sitting near my house. They were talking about a place called University of Ebla… Hassan told them that it was on the Aleppo-Damascus Highway… after two days, I heard one of them saying thanks God, we fulfilled the operation early… I asked them what are you talking about, they answered: we killed Mr. Sarya, son of the Mufti at the hands of Muhammad Muaed al-Tahan."
Shaaban added that members of the armed group went to the university and waited for Sarya's car to come. Once it arrived, Muhammad Mouaiad al-Tahan got off the car and killed him and his counsin killed sarya's companion and then they ran away.
He said that the armed group asked him to observe the owner of the factory he worked at, adding that he told them about the car his employer had and his work schedule.
"When I asked them why they want to know about the man, they told me that they wanted to assassinate him. The following day I was arrested," he concluded.

Syria is deploying the "Bastion" advanced missile system along its coast. There had been uncertainty over the contract to supply Syria with Russia's advanced mobile coastal defence system L-300P "Bastion" carrying "Yakhont" missiles. Few people believed in the possibility of supplying Damascus with these weapons after the launch of the "reset" between Russia and the U.S. in 2009 because the move could really upset the balance of power in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The U.S. and Israel have always been the main opponents of weapon deals between Russia and Syria, but their respective reactions to the supply of the "Bastion" system to Syria were different. When the U.S. traditionally expressed its indignation over the deal, Israel's reaction was almost unnoticeable except some general statements made by the Israeli foreign ministry, even though Israel should be the first to worry about upgrades in Syria's defence capability.
But, there was a reason for Israel's sluggish response to the supply of the "Bastion" system to Syria. It's related to the balance of power between Tel Aviv and Damascus, as well as the current situation in the region.
The outcome of a possible conflict between Israel and Syria would be mainly decided in the air and on the land. In this scenario, naval supremacy would be of secondary importance because regardless of Syria's hypothetical successes in attacks on the Israeli navy, they would do nothing to influence the out come. .
For Israel, the threat posed by Syria's Air Force, Ground Forces and air defence systems is seen as more significant. Consequently, the supply to Syria of air defence systems, fighter jets, advance armoured vehicles and weaponry for the ground forces is a cause for a greater worry for Israel. Particularly as there is a considerable chance that military equipment and the weaponry intended for the ground forces might fall into the hands of terrorists. This particularly applies to such weapons as shoulder fired anti-aircraft and antitank missiles, light armoured vehicles and firearms.
Theoretically, under the guise of terrorists Syrians themselves could launch attacks on Israel from the regions controlled by Syria. But one should note that in the current situation, Syria does not need any conflicts with Israel.
Why has Syria bought the "Bastion" system? Whose ships will be targeted by the "Yakhont" missiles? There is a clear answer to these questions: it's the Turkish navy. HAMA, (SANA)- The competent authorities in Hama Province on Thursday discovered a two-floor deserted house used by armed terrorist group in al-Hamidiya Neighborhood.
The authorities found big amounts of electronic devices, machine-guns, bombs, explosive devices and Molotov bombs used by the armed groups in committing their criminal acts which target the security of the homeland.
A disintegrated body of a citizen whose identity remained anonymous due to the sever mutilation and abuse and who is believed to be a kidnapped person ,was also found in the house.
An official source told SANA correspondent that the authorities arrested a number of terrorists in the surrounding houses who have been using the house as a base for launching their attacks against the law-enforcement forces in the Province.

DAMSCUS, (SANA) – Criminal Security Branch in Damascus Countryside on Wednesday arrested a group of criminals charged with stealing cars by force impersonating security officers, in addition to other charges of committing different crimes.
In his confessions broadcast by the Syrian TV, the 30-year old armed man, Samer al-Bakri, confessed to stealing cars impersonating a security officer with three other people.
Al-Bakri added that they bought military uniforms, a gun and a pistol to use them in their operations and spent the stolen money on nightlife and other pleasures.
He said that he participated with Hussein al-Shahoud, Hussein al-Ali and Ahmad al-Homam in seven operations and stole taxis, Mercedes cargo van, a car loaded with flour and another one loaded with meat on Homs-Damascus highway, in addition to taking taxis till they reach Maaloula Bridge, threatening the drivers and stealing their cars, mobiles and money.
Al-Bakri confessed to selling the stolen cars and mobiles in Hama governorate via a man called Abu Fawaz.
For his part, Hussein al-Ali, a farmer, said that he participated in three operations on Damascus – Homs highway.
He added that they blocked the way of a Kia Rio car and a green van loaded with spare parts impersonating as a security patrol where they stole the cars and the money found with their drivers.
"We stopped a car loaded with meat and stole the money from its driver," said al-Ali, adding that we also stole a Verna Taxi on Homs road.
In turn, Ahmad al-Homam, 32 years old from Kafr Roma in Idlib, confessed that he and Hussein al-Alli stole a taxi near Maaloula and sold it in Idlib.
He added that he stole a taxi in Babila in al-Sayyedeh Zeinab area and took it to Jabal al-Zawiyeh where he sold it.

Idlib, (SANA)-Muhammad Deib Jamal Shaaban narrated stories about acts of killing and kidnapping perpetrated by armed terrorist groups in Idlib, including the crime of assassinating son of Syria's Grand Mufti, the Martyr Sarya Hassoun.
Shaaban told the Syrian TV in an interview broadcast Thursday that he was working in the company of Syria Mega Azoz, then he joined a terrorist group in his village that comprised a number of his cousins and friends to perpetrate acts of looting, killing and kidnapping.
"I took part along with the group in killing a person from al-Shalkhi family and another person from Mutlak family. At 12.30 p.m. I was in al-Mashrou region while the group members were sitting near a roadblock that we set up in the area.. leader of the group Basem Shaaban asked him to remain at the roadblock and they went by car…," Shaaban said.
He added "after an hour and a half, the group which included Ahmad Shaaban, Hussein Shaaban, Adham Iz, Abdallah al-Khateeb, yousef al-Akhim and Muhammad Khaled al-Akhim, returned with an injured person called Yossef." Shaaban said that members of the group met once again and went to abduct Mr. Rafik al-Mudalal with his son.
They took him to a farm, tortured and killed him. "Several days later, I found Hussein and Muhammad Muaed al-Tahan and his brother Yassar, and Hassan al-Tahan sitting near my house. They were talking about a place called University of Ebla… Hassan told them that it was on the Aleppo-Damascus Highway… after two days, I heard one of them saying thanks God, we fulfilled the operation early… I asked them what are you talking about, they answered: we killed Mr. Sarya, son of the Mufti at the hands of Muhammad Muaed al-Tahan."
Shaaban added that members of the armed group went to the university and waited for Sarya's car to come. Once it arrived, Muhammad Mouaiad al-Tahan got off the car and killed him and his counsin killed sarya's companion and then they ran away.
He said that the armed group asked him to observe the owner of the factory he worked at, adding that he told them about the car his employer had and his work schedule.
"When I asked them why they want to know about the man, they told me that they wanted to assassinate him. The following day I was arrested," he concluded.

Syria is deploying the "Bastion" advanced missile system along its coast. There had been uncertainty over the contract to supply Syria with Russia's advanced mobile coastal defence system L-300P "Bastion" carrying "Yakhont" missiles. Few people believed in the possibility of supplying Damascus with these weapons after the launch of the "reset" between Russia and the U.S. in 2009 because the move could really upset the balance of power in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The U.S. and Israel have always been the main opponents of weapon deals between Russia and Syria, but their respective reactions to the supply of the "Bastion" system to Syria were different. When the U.S. traditionally expressed its indignation over the deal, Israel's reaction was almost unnoticeable except some general statements made by the Israeli foreign ministry, even though Israel should be the first to worry about upgrades in Syria's defence capability.
But, there was a reason for Israel's sluggish response to the supply of the "Bastion" system to Syria. It's related to the balance of power between Tel Aviv and Damascus, as well as the current situation in the region.
The outcome of a possible conflict between Israel and Syria would be mainly decided in the air and on the land. In this scenario, naval supremacy would be of secondary importance because regardless of Syria's hypothetical successes in attacks on the Israeli navy, they would do nothing to influence the out come. .
For Israel, the threat posed by Syria's Air Force, Ground Forces and air defence systems is seen as more significant. Consequently, the supply to Syria of air defence systems, fighter jets, advance armoured vehicles and weaponry for the ground forces is a cause for a greater worry for Israel. Particularly as there is a considerable chance that military equipment and the weaponry intended for the ground forces might fall into the hands of terrorists. This particularly applies to such weapons as shoulder fired anti-aircraft and antitank missiles, light armoured vehicles and firearms.
Theoretically, under the guise of terrorists Syrians themselves could launch attacks on Israel from the regions controlled by Syria. But one should note that in the current situation, Syria does not need any conflicts with Israel.
Why has Syria bought the "Bastion" system? Whose ships will be targeted by the "Yakhont" missiles? There is a clear answer to these questions: it's the Turkish navy. The relations between Syria and Turkey have worsened especially after Turkey joined the countries that imposed sanctions on Syria and put its troops stationed along the Syrian border on high alert. Thus, one cannot exclude the possibility of an attempt by the U.S. to further its interests in the region by using Turkey "cleanse" Syria.
Provided that Syria approaches the process of formation and training its personnel, the new missile systems could render any naval operation on Syria's coastline really difficult.
