DAMASCUS, (SANA)- Economic, social and commercial figures and representatives of service institutions and civil associations rejected instigative calls for a strike on Sunday, circulated through SMS messages and social networking sites, launched by some tendentious parties linked to foreign sides.
They said they will attend to their businesses tomorrow as usual and provide services fully to citizens, stressing that such calls aim to harm the interests and business of citizens and affect their livelihood and the normal course of their life.
Using SMS messages and social networking sites, some tendentious provocative parties called for a strike on Sunday, within the framework of the political and economic campaign launched by the powers hostile to Syria, which aim to undermine the economic and social activities in the country and disable public life.
(Editorial note: Judging from videos uploated onto YouTube, general strike was observed only in a part of the old quarter in Homs City, al-Qusair city in Homs, Idlib city and a few small towns in Idlib and Daraa provinces.)
