Syrians know how to cope with foreign prsssures

Oct 26, when the Arab League delegation arrived at Damascus, "the Carnival march" was held in Omayyad Square in Damascus.
"The tree of a Syrian family" and "Syrian people are one family" are their main slogans.

In parallel, a similar pro-government march was organised in al-Hasakah.

In limited numbers of small towns and villages where anti-government trend is strong, general strikes and protests were carried out, although I don't elaborate on them into details here.

When the US/European conspirators open their mouths, they spare no time in pointing out differences within the Syrian society. Islam against Christianity, Sunni majority against Alawi minority, Arab Sunni against Persian Shiite (there are a considerable numbers of Arab Shiite, though), Arab against Kurds, secularism against Islamism, men with unrestricted rights against women with restricted rights, the rich and the poor, city residents against bedouins in deserts, unemployed youth, and so and so forth. They focus on the differences. All of these are malicious rhetoric with the aim to disintegrate Syria into small pieces.

Local Syrians know such things from the first. This is why the secularism and Arabic language are two pillars for modern Syria, just like France. They have a know-how for coexistence themselves. They don't need American advice in this regard.

When foreign pressure mounts, it is necessary to raise the internal pressure as well to make balance. Thus the 2 slogans on Oct. 26 "The tree of a Syrian family" and "Syrian people are one family" were the most suitable and the best chosen for the Carnival.

(I wonder what will happen if even more powerful China after 30 years plays with impoverished France in the same manner trying to disintegrate it into small pieces.)

"No to foreign interference" is another good example. The US wants to grab the shoulders of Syria and to shake it, but she cannot even touch the body of Syria because each individual Syrian repeat "No to foreign interference" endlessly. As a result, spies who demand foreign interference are exposed.

The above is the EUR/USD weekly foreign exchange chart. It hit bottom on Oct 3 - 4, and after that, rose sharply to 1.4200 level tonight. Although I don't have a firm evidence right now, I suppose that this happened because huge sums of money are being repatriated from abroad. In order to settle debt problems, Europeans need cash. They are selling anything abroad that they can put a price tag on and transferring cash from abroad to the EU. That's why strong euro buying occurs.

(Even if the repatriation is not the reason for today's euro buying, the repat will prompt another round of strong euro appreciation in the near future.)

In case of Japan (1999 - 2003), the debt-stricken private sector sold off almost all the assets abroad they had accumulated since the end of the World War II until the end of the last century. As a loser in the WWII, all the Japanese foreign assets were confiscated. So moneywise, we collapsed twice in the 20th century. We had to begin the 21st century from the first. As a result, Japan was downgraded from one of the major powers to just a big country in size.

If you have time, try to check up the Quarterly Report of the BIS (Bank for International Settlement) to see the drastic decrease of Japan's external assets as well as rapid Yen buying during this period.

Debt clearance causes such a big blow to the state power. The US and the EU are experiencing this now. The whole process will take at lease 3 years. 3 consecutive dark years are waiting for them.

On Oct 6, the Daily Telegraph reported that Rif'at al-Assad, an uncle of President Bashar is in a hurry to sell all his properties as if he is the only silly guy that is doing this due to his political background. If you are a European, you should not read this article (below) and laugh at him. The fact is that a lot of affluent Europeans are doing the same and Rif'at is just one of them (if the article is true).

Syria: Assad family 'selling off overseas property empire'
A multimillion pound property empire that includes flats and houses in London is being sold off and turned into hard cash by members of Syria's Assad family, it has been reported.

  1. khatyar yabani said "Secularism and Arabic language are two pillars for modern Syria.... [Syrians] have a know-how for coexistence among themselves."

From what I've been able to see, I believe khatyar yabani is correct there.

If you agree that khatyar yabani is correct, it follows that the advisors of the Western governments do not understand Syrian society. Their lack of understanding of the society is one very good reason why they should not be involving themselves in Syrian affairs in any way, and why real Syrians should not be giving any heed to what the Westerners are saying about Syria.
