Iraqi Delegation Briefs al-Arabi on Details of Iraqi Initiative to Solve Syrian Crisis

CAIRO, (SANA) – Iraqi National Security Advisor, Faleh al-Fayad, briefed on Sunday Secretary-General of the Arab League, Nabil al-Arabi, on the details of the Iraqi initiative to solve the Syrian crisis within the framework of the positive talks held with President Bashar al-Assad during the recent visit of the Iraqi delegation to Syria.

Al-Fayad told reporters after his meeting with al-Arabi that he reviewed with the secretary-General the outcome of the meetings held with President al-Assad.

He added that his country has made this initiative after the visit the Secretary-General of the Arab League paid to Baghdad and the meetings he held with the Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

He expressed his county's desire to play an active role in supporting the Arab League efforts towards an Arab solution to the Syrian crisis far from internationalization through launching comprehensive Syrian national dialogue leading to reform and democracy.

Al-Fayad underlined that the solution should take into consideration the common interests and demands of all sides.

He added that he met with a wide range of opposition figures within the framework of the efforts exerted to solve the Syrian crisis, pointing out that the opposition expressed desire for a national solution far from foreign interference.

For his part, Iraqi MP Ezzat al-Shahbandar, stressed that Baghdad has the trust of all Syrian sides which will help it play a positive role beside the Arab League.

He added that the Secretary General welcomed the Iraqi initiative, pointing out that Iraq will continue its initiative, particularly that the Syrian leadership trusts it.

AMMAN, (SANA) – Participants of the meetings of the Permanent Bureau of Arab Lawyers Union in Amman on Saturday stressed their rejection of any form of foreign interference in Syria, saying that the Western attack against it aims at dissuading Syrian from its resistance-supportive stances.

Secretary-General of the Arab Lawyers Union Omar Zein, said in a statement to the Syrian TV that "We are against any type of foreign interference in Syria. We support national dialogue and the reforms."

For his part, Head of the Jordanian Lawyers Union, Mazen Arshidat, said that Syria will overcome the conspiracy currently facing it as it overcame previous ones.

On the occasion of the meeting, the Jordanian Lawyers Union issued a statement in which it expressed solidarity with Syria and rejection of the Arab League decisions against it.

The statement rejected the ferocious media attack led by some Arab TV channels which they are implementing the Zionist-Western project aimed at undermining the resistant approach of Syria.

The participants stressed rejection of any foreign interference in Syria's internal affairs, adding that the Syrians are the only people who can resolve the crisis in their country.

They raised Syrian flags and held photos of the crimes committed by the armed terrorist groups against the Syrian army and civilians.

Head of the Tunisian National Committee for Support of Arab Resistance, Ahmad al-Kahlawi, stressed that the stand expresses the Tunisian people's rejection of allowing their country to be a springboard for conspiring against Syria.

He said that the participants in the stand called upon the conspirators to retract their antagonistic stances against Syria and on the armed terrorist groups to stop shedding the Syrian blood.

In the same context, the Unionist Popular Front Party in Tunisia criticized hosting the congress of Istanbul Council and the participation of the Tunisian interim president in the opening.

"This made Tunisia lose the opportunity to play a positive role in resolving the Syrian crisis or help in finding a way out as to meet the Syrian people's aspirations and prevent more bloodshed," said the Front in a statement released on Sunday.

The Unionist Democratic Union Party issued a statement signed by its Secretary General Ahmad al-Enoubali considering holding Istanbul Council's congress in Tunis as sign on Tunisia's involvement in the line of hostility against Syria and its resistant role against Zionism and the Americanization of the region.
