DAMASCUS,(SANA)- Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab Bar Association, Samih Khurais said that the reason behind targeting Syria is its national leadership which has chosen the resistance and which still adheres to the principled stances of the Arab nation and the Arab identity.

Interviewed by the Syrian TV, Khurais said that the Jordanian people stand by the Syrian people and leadership and support Syria with all the possible means as they believe in their Arab nation and its principled stances and their true Islamic belief.

He added that when President Bashar al-Assad said "We will fight" indicates that the Arab nation is targeted firstly through its gate Syria, in addition to targeting the resistant project which confronts the Israeli occupation.

Egyptian Politician and Journalist, Muhammad al-Sayyed Ahmad said that the pan-Arab project represented in Syria is the last fort in the face of the US-Zionist project in the region, and all the Arabs must stand by Syria against the conspiracy hatched against it.

Al-Sayyed Ahmad added that the conspiracy facing Syria targets its resistant project, asserting that Syria is not easy to overcome.

He wondered about what some say that there is a revolution in Syria as the revolutions in the Arab countries have been justified on the social, political and economic levels while Syria is self-sufficient and what is taking place in it is a US-Zionist plot which aims at imposing the so-called "Greater Middle East Project" to divide the Arab countries into 72 small states.

He indicated that what is being broadcast by some misleading satellite channels is very far from the reality, "We watched the reality of the events on the ground in Syria which is completely different from what these channels are broadcasting."

Former Deputy Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Elie Ferzli said that the new project backed by the US and Israel, tries to undermine Syria because without undermining Syria, Egypt will not be captured by this project due to the geographical and historical denominators binding the two brotherly countries.

Ferzli indicated that the countries conspiring against Syria are trying to undermine its social texture and to divide it and to stir a civil war which US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton talked about and which some of those who reside in Turkey work on achieving under the title of demanding a Turkish interference as a step towards seizing Syria.

For his part, Member of the Secretariat-General of the Egyptian Arab Democratic Nasserist Party, Hisham Lutfi said " When I was invited to visit Damascus to get acquainted with the reality of the events witnessed in it, some of my friends and relatives advised me not to go due to the bloodshed and the tense atmosphere, yet when I arrived in Syria on Saturday, I saw that Damascus is completely different from what is being promoted by the misleading media, and I saw a rally in support to President al-Assad and in condemnation of the Arab League (AL) decision."
