PROVINCES, (SANA)-An officer and a number of law-enforcement members were injured by armed terrorist groups in Duma countryside and Bab al-Duraib neighborhood in Homs.
An informed source told SANA that an attack by an armed terrorist group on a law enforcement forces patrol in the countryside of Duma city in Damascus Countryside resulted in injuring a number of the members of the competent authorities which confronted the gunmen, killing three of them.
The attack took place an hour after al-Jazeera TV broadcast a news report on shooting in Duma at the time when the city was quite calm and life was normal.

Fawwaz al-Bashir Refutes al-Arabiya News on Shaikh Nawwaf al-Bashir Tortured to Death
Shaikh Fawwaz al-Bashir, cousin of Shaikh Nawwaf al-Bashir, denied al-Arabiya news claiming that Shaikh Nawwaf was tortured to death.
In a phone call with the Syrian TV on Friday, al-Bashir said ''We were shocked at a news broadcast by al-Arabiya claiming that Shaikh Nawwaf was killed under torture. It was a real calamity his family and friends.''
Al-Bashir added that he visited on Friday Shaikh Nawwaf and ascertained that he is safe and sound and the news completely baseless.
Al-Bashir condemned, in the name of al-Bashir family and al-Bakkara (al-Baggarah) clan, the fake news broadcast by al-Arabiya. ''I've been trying to contact al-Arabiya by phone since 09:00 a.m. and they told me that they will call me soon, but it didn't happen,'' said al-Bashir.
He said that he intended to call the channel in order to deny the news, but to no avail.

An armed terrorist group on Friday afternoon assassinated the nationalistic opposition figure Mishaal Tammo and wounded his son Marcel and Zahida Rash Kilo.
Informed sources told SANA that four gunmen using a black car opened fire from machineguns on Tammo who was invited to lunch at a friend's in the western district of Qamishli city accompanied by his son and Kilo.
The attack led to the martyring of Tammo immediately, while his son was injured with a gunshot to the abdomen and Kilo was shot in the foot.
People in Qamishli said the assassination of Tammo aims at undermining national unity and civil peace.
Mashaal Tammo was an agricultural engineer who entered the political arena in 1990, establishing the Kurdish Future Party in 2005 with a group of others. He was against the calls by the opposition abroad for interfering in Syria's affairs and rejected the use of arms.
Tammo had continously stressed the importance of national unity and comprehensive political, economic and social reforms. He left behind a wife and six son.

DAMASCUS, (SANA) – An official military source said that an armed terrorist group abducted retired Brigadier General Radwan Jarrouh al-Madloush on the night of Thursday 6/10/2011.
The source said that al-Madloush was abducted from his home in Kafr Houd in Mharde area and taken along with his car to an unknown destination, adding that it's not unlikely that he might be filmed and shown on instigation channels dissenter in order to rally the masses and defame the army.
Fayssal al-Madloush, Radwan's brother, told SANA that "About 10 gunmen came to my brother's house at 11:20 pm on Thursday. They knocked on the door and his wife opened, my brother heard noise… When he went to see what was happening, the armed group abducted him and stole his car."

DAMASCUS, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Life became relatively calm on Friday in several areas near the Syrian capital of Damascus, with heavy army and security presence in some suburbs that witnessed massive protests over the past six months.
A heavy security and army presence was noticed at the entrances of some hotspot suburbs near Damascus, including Maadamiyah, Daraya, Harasta and Duma.
In Damascus' central Midan neighborhood, pro- and anti-government protests were seen that only lasted for a couple of minutes.
In Harasta and Duma, which have emerged as hubs of protests, there were about five army check points along the main road that connects Harasta to Duma.
An eye witness in Duma told Xinhua reporter that a small anti-government rally was held there but was dispersed quickly.
Meanwhile, Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said that an army officer was injured by armed groups in Zamalka area near Damascus, without giving further details.
Al-Jazeera cited activists and witnesses as saying that at least nine people were killed Friday as thousands of people thronged to streets demanding the ouster of President Bashar al- Assad.
The report couldn't be verified as there were no official comments on the civilian toll.
Syria has been wracked by six-month unrest that it blamed on foreign conspiracy and foreign thugs.
Syrian president's political and media adviser Buthayna Shaaban recently put the number of army officers and law-enforcement troops killed since the eruption of protests in Syria in mid March at 800, while a recent UN tally put the number of civilians who were killed at 2,900.

DAMASCUS, (SANA) – Terrorist Fadi Zuraiq on Friday confessed to participating in the huge media campaign against Syria in the last few months.
In confessions broadcast on the Syrian TV, terrorist Zuraiq said that he received guidance from some instigating media channels and he worked as a false eye-witness during Hama events, especially after the armed terrorist groups had set blockades and killed innocents.
Terrorist Zuraiq added that he worked, along with other people, on instigating people to protest, indicating that people from outside Syria phoned him and asked him to videotape the protests.
"Bilal Taha in Belgium, who is the webmaster of the so called 'Sham Network', phoned me and told me to videotape the protests and send the photages to him. Abdul-Kadir Shakaki and Samih Marmar in Saudi Arabia also phoned me saying they were from the abroad opposition. Attar Terkawi also called me."
"We fabricated many rumors in Hama city in order to make people participate in the protests… We said that if the number of people wasn't large, the army will enter the city and commit massacres." He added.
He pointed out that Bilal Taha sent him a Saudi SIM card to call some media channels, adding that Taha communicated with several media channels such as al-Jazeera, BBC, al-Arabiya, and news agencies such as AP and AFP telling them to cooperate with Zuraiq and broadcast the protests.
