Lukashevich underscored Russia's principled stance that there is no need for resolutions or sanctions or pressures, stressing what is required is an internal Syrian dialogue to be the basis for reaching a political settlement, and ensuring search for means of national accord.

The Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesman asserted that the call for end of violence in Syria by all parties is also directed to the extremist opposition, which has been trying, backed by foreign sides, to boycott any form of dialogue or talk with the Syrian leadership.

On Russia's stance on the resolution on Syria of the UN General Assembly's Human Rights Committee, Lukashevich said his country abstained from voting on the resolution because of humanitarian character of the draft resolution.

BEIJING, Nov. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- China has again called for an immediate end to the violence and a resolution to the crisis under the Arab League. A Foreign Ministry spokesman says Syria and the Arab League should strengthen communication and coordination for inclusive political reform in the region.

Tensions on the rise.

More bloodshed as Syrian security forces fire on mainly peaceful protestors. Despite the current tensions, the safety of Chinese expatriates is guaranteed.

Currently, there are more than 7-hundred Chinese in Syria, with the majority of them in Damascus and Aleppo.

The Chinese embassy to Syria is doing its best to ensure they are safe.

Zhang Xu, Ambassador to Syria, said, “We regularly report the current situation of Syria to the Chinese expatriates and Chinese-funded enterprises, and keep in close contact with them. We also have emergency plans. ”

In the meantime, China’s embassy to Syria is negotiating with the Syrian government in a bid to provide the Chinese with special protection.

So far, no plan for removing the Chinese has been put forward.

"Now, the number of Chinese in Syria has already been reduced. Some programs of Chinese funded enterprises have been put aside. We haven’t decided to bring all the Chinese back." Zhang said.

In terms of the signals sent by the Western countries on interfering in Syria, China supports solving the unrest in Syria under the Arab League.

"The current situation in Syria is still within the structure of the Arab League. There is no reason for any military interference." Zhang said.

A spokesman for China’s Foreign Ministry, says finding a solution under the Arab League is in accordance with the common interests of Syria, Arab countries and the international community as a whole.

With Syrian military vowing to "cut every evil hand" that targets the country’s security, more darker days are signalled to come in an eight-month protest against President Bashar Assad.

France training rebels to fight Syria

A Turkish newspaper has unveiled that French military forces are training armed Syrian rebels to fight the government of President Bashar al-Assad.

According to Milliyet, as cited by IRNA, France has sent its military training forces to Turkey and Lebanon to coach the so-called Free Syrian Army -- a group of defectors operating out of Turkey and Lebanon -- in an effort to wage war against Syria's military.

The report added that the French, British, and Turkish authorities “have reached an agreement to send arms into Syria.”

The Turkish daily said that the three have informed the US about training and arming the Syrian opposition.

According to Milliyet, a group of armed rebels are currently stationed in Turkey's Hatay Province near the border with Syria.

The report comes as an earlier report had revealed that the British and French intelligence agencies have reportedly tasked their agents with contacting Syrian dissidents based in the northern Lebanese town of Tripoli in order to help fuel unrest in Syria.

Reports also said that French intelligence agents have been sent to northern Lebanon and Turkey to build the first contingents of the Free Syrian Army out of the deserters who have fled Syria.

Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March, with demonstrations being held both against and in support of President Assad.

Damascus says the unrest has been largely incited by elements that are well-paid and armed by foreign powers. Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed in the turmoil.

The opposition and Western countries accuse Syrian security forces of being behind the killings in the country, but the government blames what it describes as outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups for the deadly violence, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.

France rewords ban on Iran oil imports

France has reworded the contents of an earlier announcement to ban Iranian oil imports, saying the measure is to be taken in coordination with its allies, Press TV reports.

The French Foreign Ministry said on Thursday that it would bring the unilateral national ban into force due to the Islamic Republic's nuclear activities, a Press TV correspondent reported.

"The interruption of Iranian oil purchases is among the measures proposed by France to its partners,” the ministry said in a statement published on its official website, adding that, “We will apply this at a national level.”

The statement, however, was later “clarified,” when the ministry further noted that “the decision at a national level will be in coordination with our European partners.”

EU purchases are said to account for 18 percent of the oil purchases from Iran, with Italy and France respectively buying 450,000 and 20,000 barrels per day from the Islamic Republic.

The announcement came after a November 8 report by Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano posed questions regarding Iran's nuclear program.

Later on November 18, the IAEA Board of Governors adopted a controversial US-sponsored resolution against the program that was strongly refuted by the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) member nations.

Tehran has dismissed the report as “unbalanced, unprofessional, and prepared with political motivation and under political pressure by mostly the United States."

As a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the IAEA, Iran says it has the right to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

The IAEA has conducted numerous inspections of Iranian nuclear facilities, but has never found any evidence of diversion in the country's civilian nuclear program.

U.N. sees no need yet for Syria humanitarian corridor

UNITED NATIONS: French proposals for "humanitarian corridors" in syria to help civilians affected by eight months of unrest are not justified by humanitarian needs identified so far in the country, the United Nations humanitarian coordinator said.

Valerie Amos said 3 million people had been affected by the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad, and Syria's Red Crescent had sought support to feed 1.5 million people.

"A number of suggestions have been made on how to provide assistance to Syrians affected by the current unrest," Amos said, referring to proposals for humanitarian corridors or buffer zones.

"At present, the humanitarian needs identified in syria do not warrant the implementation of either of those mechanisms," she said, adding that the United Nations had been unable to assess comprehensively those needs because of the limited number of international staff operating in syria.

"Before any further discussion of these options, it is essential to get a clearer sense of what exactly people need, and where," Amos said in a statement released on Friday.

The United Nations says more than 3,500 people have been killed in Assad's crackdown on eight months of protests against his rule. Syria blames armed groups for killing 1,100 soldiers and police.

The proposal for humanitarian corridors to address civilian suffering were outlined by France on Wednesday, in the first Western initiative for intervention on the ground.

They could link Syrian civilian centers to the Turkish or Lebanese frontiers, to the Mediterranean coast or to an airport, enabling the supply of humanitarian supplies or medicines to people in need.

French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said the plan fell short of a military intervention but acknowledged that humanitarian convoys might need armed protection.

Foreign powers are seeking to persuade Damascus to accept such a scheme, diplomats said. Without Syrian agreement, they said the only way humanitarian corridors could work would be if they were backed by force, ideally supported by a U.N. resolution.

Amos said thousands of Syrians had fled their country and many more sought refuge with family or friends away from their homes. Food and fuel prices had risen, and the economy was declining, she said.
