The number of candidates for local boards in the province of Aleppo at the end of the deadline for nominations yesterday 7 thousand candidates will compete for 2283 seats.

And Salem Halahawi director of local councils faithfully the secret to maintain that the last few days saw a high turnout of citizens to run for elections of local administration, adding that the number of seats for the current session includes 100 seats of the provincial (al-Muhaafazah) council, and 50 seats for the (Aleppo) City Council, and 613 seats, (other) city councils, and 1300 seat of town (al-baldah) council, and 220 of the small town (al-baladiyyah) councils.

(note: A city has a population of 50,001 and more. Town between 10,001 and 50,000. Small town between 5,001 and 10,000. Qaryah in Arabic defined in a different Syrian law, and means a small gathering of houses in countryside.)

It is said that this session saw the participation of large compared with the previous sessions as the number of candidates in the previous session 2007 / 4996 / candidate and the number of seats in 1397 while the number of candidates in / 2003/3192 / candidate and the number of seats to 1158 seats.

A local media said that the Governor of Homs, met with the elders of neighborhoods where violence and killing, in order to end this situation affecting the Homs since more than two months.

The sources explained that the Governor of Homs media Ghassan Abdel-Al, held a meeting in a building with dignitaries and clerics in the neighborhoods Khalidiya and Al-Bayada, and Zahra, Abbasid, Dair Ba'lbah, in order to put an end to the violence and calm the soul.

And sources indicate that the clergy took upon themselves the task of establishing security and to restore life to normalcy.

And the attempts the governor and dignitaries at a time when Syria reached an agreement with the Arab League to end armed manifestations.

Homs see more than two months since the killings and intimidation of the Syrian authorities say they are fighting an armed terrorist groups.
