CAIRO, (SANA)_Syria's Ambassador to Cairo, Permanent Representative to the Arab League Youssef Ahmad said Syria wonders at the Arab League Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi and his deputy Ahmad bin Helli statements on Syria, especially that they know that the Arab work plan culminated great efforts by the Arab Ministerial Committee and the Syrian leadership, through a series of meetings in Damascus and Doha, to help Syria overcome the crisis, not deplete its energy and undermine its Arab and regional position, national stances and support to Arab rights.

In an interview with the Syrian TV on Sunday, Ambassador Ahmad said "The AL Secretariat is supposed to play its role in coordinating between the Syrian government and the ministerial committee, not proclaim itself a party against the Syrian government, especially that we have provided the Secretariat with all information on the terrorist attacks on civilians and security forces.''

Ahmad said that the statements cause confusion inconsistent with the content of the Arab work plan, and plays a role which transgresses its powers invested by the Arab League Charter.

Ahmad called on the AL secretary general and his deputy to read the Arab work plan thoroughly, which Syria considered a starting point for continuous, transparent and genuine cooperation stemming from the committee's care for Syria's security, stability and unity, fully realizing that Syria's welfare is in the Arabs' interest.

Ambassador Ahmad wondered how the AL Secretary General and his deputy did not take notice of the flagrant US incitement of the armed terrorist groups not to hand over their weapons and benefit from the amnesty, asking ''Is this intended for the crisis to aggravate and take on grave dimensions, opening the door for foreign interventions that don't serve the Syrian interests?"

''Has the AL Secretary General and his deputy fallen into the double standard policies called defending human rights at one place and turning a blind eye to them at another?'' he wondered.

Ambassador Ahmad said that Syria has allowed a group of foreign journalists into the country to see reality on the ground, adding ''I hence would like to ask: Has the Western and Arab political and media incitement stopped or increased? "

Ahmad said Syria is committed to its pledges as has always been, pointing out that Raqqa province during President Bashar al-Assad's visit today has provided answers for whoever wants to know the truth.

Al-Arabi called upon the Syrian government to implement its commitments to which it agreed in the Arab work plan.

BEIRUT, (SANA) – Syria is targeted by a fierce conspiracy because it has always rejected all US and Zionist dictations, Grand Jaafarite Mufti, Shaikh Ahmad Qabalan, said on Monday.

During Eid al-Adha Sermon, Qabalan added that what is happening in the countries of the region, at the expense of their peoples, proves that the US policy in the region serves only the security of Israel.

Shaikh Qabalan pointed out that democracy and human rights in the Arab World are not important for the US and the Western countries, rather it is the security of Israel that is most important even if the cost is thousands of people in Palestine, Syria and Lebanon.

In the same context, former Lebanese Deputy Speaker, Elie Ferzli, said the conspiracy targeting Syria aims at fragmenting the country and the region, stressing that Israel is the only beneficiary of the situation.

In an interview with the Lebanese ANB satellite channel, Ferzli added that Syria is fully aware of the ongoing conflict and the powers running it, urging the Arab nation to be cautious over the strategic risks in the region.

For his part, Political Analyst, Adel Malik, said that there are international sides behind the current crisis in Syria, adding that those sides are exaggerating news reports on the events taking place in Syria.
