He noted he was "deeply concerned in terms of expected further deterioration of the situation (in Syria), and I see that the prospects for a transformation of the system is very small. So I think that there is a major responsibility lies with the Arab states that back them to have put increasing pressure to develop things (in Syria). "

He announced his country's readiness to recognize the Syrian opposition "provided to complete an organizing themselves. Today, the Syrian opposition remains divided and built is not clear. But I do not ever rule out the recognition of the Syrian National Council, who is to pool the efforts of the opposition."

He wondered "if we exclude the use of military force (against Syria) What can we do? We can do under diplomatic pressure, and this is what we practice with our allies and a number of Arab countries. Can impose sanctions (economic) .. We are also ready to step up sanctions and we will study at a meeting of European foreign ministers next. "

"Maybe there are other measures we will consider them as the military option off the table. In each case, the clear doctrine of France; is that there is no military intervention without UN authorization."

He said he expected from Turkey, "a firm commitment and conviction of what is happening in Syria." He added, "Turkey's possible to exercise strong pressure on the Syrian regime, and can help us in the United Nations. I will go to Istanbul and Ankara after two weeks, and I intend to raise this issue with my Turkish counterpart."
