Syria has issued an ultimatum to the Muslim Brotherhood

Just spare some time to read this commetary of al-Thawrah newspaper dated on November 7. This is an ultimatum to the military wing of the MB and the likes.

What is being reported noisily about Homs right now should be understood in this context.

In the past 8 months, foreign media in anti-Syrian alliance countries (US, UK, France, Saudi, Qatar, Turkey) have always screamed hysterically every time the Syrian army and police launched sweeping operations against terrorists.

Contrary to biased western reports, Syria has continued to concede on the political front. For example, they were unwilling to omit the article 8 of the constitution (al-Baath party leadership) voluntarily until the end of May, because this is the achievement of their political struggle which took decades to be materialized.

But after negotaitons and diplomatic pressures, a news of abandoning the article 8 was leaked on July 20, and the Baath Party Central Committee formally endorsed the idea in August 17. Now a special committee for constitutional reform is preparing a draft on the precondition to eliminate the article 8 from the first.

But on the security front, the principle of the Syrian government has been firm from the first. No compromise.

The deadline for the recently announced amnesty is Nov. 12 (Sat). Therefore I expect that they will begin something from Nov. 13 (Sun), just one month before the local elections scheduled on Dec. 12. Let's see what will happen.
