In Lattakia, the manager of the election office in Lattakia Nidal Hasan said: The number of candidates reached the 3429 candidates and candidates from the independents, and all parties have nominated 555 candidates for Lattakia province (muhaafazah) council, and 225 candidates for the city (madinah) of Latakia, and 181 candidates for city councils Jablah - Qardahah - al-Hiffah, and 154 for small town (baladiyyah) councils, and 927 for town (baldah) councils.

It should be noted that the number of candidates equal to twice the seats in local governance will be so specific and significant competition in local government elections to be held on the twelfth of next month.

In Tartous, Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim, the secretary of the province maintained that the number of candidates for Tartous City (madinah) Council reached 109 candidates, the total number of candidates 410 for provincial (muhaafazah) council candidates at the time of the required number to the City (madinah) Council 25 members, and 96 members for the Council of the province (muhaafazah).

(note: A city has a population of 50,001 and more. Town between 10,001 and 50,000. Small town between 5,001 and 10,000. Qaryah (village) in Arabic defined in a different Syrian law, and means a small gathering of houses in countryside.)
