HOMS, (SANA)- Rector of al-Baath University in Homs province, Ahmad Mufeid Subh, categorically dismissed the news reported by some satellite channels about a fire in the University's campus, stressing the falseness of this news and the complete safety of the University and all its colleges, departments and facilities.

Subh assured to SANA correspondent that the University has witnessed a normal day as all previous Saturdays, pointing out to the small number of students attending classes, except for the Open Learning System students, since Saturday is a holiday.

"Upon hearing the news, a number of teachers and administrative staff made a tour of the departments and colleges and made sure that the news is false," noted Subah, adding that such news aims to weaken the students' morale and deter them from continuing their academic cultivation, as well as to create chaos among them.

Al-Baath University's Rector said that broadcasting false news about the universities and education institutions comes in the framework of the conspiracy hatched against Syria and targets the educated youth to divert them from the right path toward deviant behavior s and deter their role in building the strong, resistant and modern Syria.

GOVERNORATES, (SANA)_ In the framework of pursuing the armed terrorist groups, the competent authorities on Saturday clashed with members of these groups, killed six terrorists and arrested twenty other while a number of the terrorists turned themselves and their weapons over.

An official source told SANA that the clashes with the terrorists resulted in the martyrdom of four security members.

The source said the arrested and surrendered terrorists were wanted for various crimes.

In the context of targeting the civilians by the armed terrorist groups, a group of gunmen opened fire on a taxi in al-Bayyaadah region in Homs resulting in the martyrdom of 4 year-old child Zahra Reda and the injury of her mother and her brother.

Another terrorist group also opened fire on an ambulance in front of al-Kindi Hospital in Homs, causing serious injuries to the driver and damages to the vehicle.

Authorities Dismantle Explosive Devices, Seize Terrorists and Firearms, Confiscate Hashish and Captagon Pills

Authorities dismantled several remote-detonated explosive devices in Harasta and Douma cities in Damascus Countryside late Friday.

An explosive device blew up in al-Kou' area in Harasta, claiming the life of a child and seriously wounding another.

The place where explosive devices and their equipment were made was also stormed by the authorities.

In al-Hajjariyeh neighborhood in Douma, the authorities seized last Wednesday a Peugeot car with five gunmen and two pick-up trucks with 14 gunmen. The gunmen had attacked a security checkpoint, causing the death of the 14-year old child Mahmoud Ibrahim Eyon and wounding a number of the checkpoint members.

A PKC machinegun, ak-47 rifles, pump-action shotguns, hand grenades and military uniforms were also seized in the cars.

In Harasta city, authorities stormed into an armed terrorist group's center, seizing ak-47 rifles, military pistols, ammunition, equipment and field hospital equipment.

Authorities Seize 59 Kg of Hashish, 8000 Captagon Pills in Sweida

IDLEB, (SANA)- An armed terrorist group on Saturday killed the young man Azzam Sawwaf and seriously wounded his brother Ammar as they were harvesting olives in Meri'yan village in Jabal al-Zawiya area in Idlib province, northern Syria.

Azzam's father said in an interview to the Syrian TV that fifteen minutes after his sons went to their olive farm, he and his nephews heard gunfire. "We called them on their mobile phones, but they didn't answer…when my nephews went there, they saw Azzam shot dead and Ammar lying seriously injured."

Azzam's father confirmed that it was the gunmen in the village who attacked his sons because they had refused to work with them.

In al-Bsheiriyeh village in Idlib, gunmen intercepted Khalil Rashwani and his brother Saleh while they were on their way to the spinning mill where they work onboard the company's car.

Khalil said in an interview that the gunmen tortured them and opened fire on them directly.

BEIRUT: A day-long kidnapping of three Syrians from Beirut's southern suburbs ended safely Friday night, when the victims said they had been taken in a robbery attempt, a security source told The Daily Star.

The three were kidnapped overnight by armed men in unlicensed four-wheel drive cars, the brother of two of the men told The Daily Star.

DAMASCUS, (SANA) – The children of Ali Turkawi al-Ali, from the village of al-Huwayja in al-Ghab area, on Saturday related the details of how an armed terrorist group murdered their 70 year-old father on a road near Jisr al-Shughour a month ago for refusing to bear arms against the Syrian army.

In an interview with the Syrian TV, Malek Ali Turkawi al-Ali said "terrorist killed my father on September 29th because he and his family refused to join protest," adding that when the family learned of the crime they were threatened with murder, with terrorists placing bombs in front of houses, burning cars, demolishing houses, burning crops, shooting at a cow barn, and desecrating the father's grave.

Malek said that the Syrian Army protected him and his family and escorted them out of the village for their own safety, saying "we're not traitors… we didn't take money from anyone like terrorist Mehiddin Ayan al-Zaim who took 40,000 dollars from people in Lebanon and distributed them among gunmen."

In turn, Wassel Ali Turkawi al-Ali said that the terrorists who killed his father called them and negotiated over his murder, arranging a meeting with him and demanding that he sign a document saying that terrorist groups had nothing to do with his father's murder and that the security forces killed him, adding "They told me to gather all 34 family members in front of a camera they had which broadcasted to al-Jazeera to say that in exchange for money… I refused, so they attacked my house at 3 AM and beat me up along with my family."

DAMASCUS, SANA_ Member of the People's Assembly Mohammad Kheir Diab al-Mashi has denied as "baseless" the news broadcast by some malicious channels that he was shot in Homs Province, affirming that he is fine and in a good health.

In an interview with the Syrian TV on Saturday, al-Mashi said I have received a number of contacts from sons of my tribe (al-Bobena), inquiring about my health after hearing the news.

Al-Mashi told relatives, friends and members of his tribe in Homs and all provinces that he is fine and will take part in the People's Assembly session scheduled on Sunday.

In Homs, an armed terrorist group tried to kidnap Sheikh Mahmoud al-Hussein, during his return to al-Mashi village near Manbej, in Aleppo Province, after he participated in the mass rally in Saba Bahrat square, Damascus.

Al-Hussein recounted, in a televised interview, how he was stopped near Homs, during his return to Aleppo, by an armed group wearing military uniforms and how they put him in the car, beat him and forced him to drive the car.

Sheikh al-Hussein said he had managed to deceive them and survive, adding that four gunmen followed him and shot him twice injuring him under the armpit and in the hand, but he continued the walk until he arrived the border guards who rescue him.

DAMASCUS, (SANA) – Armed group members on Saturday confessed to attacking a police post in Deir Ezzor Province and committing vandalism and sabotage acts.

Terrorist Khaled Hammoud al-Said, a grocer, recounted how he- along with 50 gunmen from his neighborhood- stormed the post.

"Mohammad Jasem al-Sarhan spilled gasoline around the post, while other people attacked the post's cars and broke its furniture, they looted four rifles before burgling a nearby house," he added.

For his part, Ahmad Mohammad al-Issa said "I made Molotov cocktails and used them- with Bashar, Nedal and Luay Mahameed- in the assault."

"Bashar, Nedal and Luay Mahameed hold the stolen weapons and set a blockade, they intended to use dynamite to prevent the army from entering the area," he confessed.

Mohammad al-Mahmoud Bakr, crane driver, confessed to setting blockades, hiding weapons in his house's cellar.

"I took SYP 300- 400 for participating in the protests and SYP 1000 for every weapon I hide at my cellar." He concluded.
